Purpose and benefits

It could be argued that adults are displaying more and more traditionally “childlike” tendencies; in today’s entertainment-on-demand culture, we are becoming increasingly fickle and our attention spans are becoming shorter. We seem to be losing the more mature ability to delay gratification. But is this really a bad thing, or merely a sign of progress? We have the technological innovations and resources to support our rapid-fire desires and, if we don’t embrace today’s culture, we’ll end up being left behind.

The problem is that, the more we come to expect instant gratification, the more likely it is that we’ll become dissatisfied with what we’ve got. After a while, we yearn for something more meaningful; something unique, that represents our individuality and value as a human being.
