Purpose and benefits

A long-standing faculty member at Harvard Business School, the Australian Christopher Bartlett is best known for his ground-breaking work with Sumantra Ghoshal of the London Business School. Their 20-year writing partnership—a rarity in academe—has produced a steady stream of highly influential articles and books based on in-depth research among practising managers.

In their most recent work Bartlett and Ghoshal argue that the old corporate model oriented around strategy, structure, and systems is now undergoing a process of rebirth. As human capital replaces financial capital as the key strategic resource, the new model, they say, will be built around purpose, people, and process.
