
Purpose and benefitsJuran made an important contribution to the concept of managing for quality. Like W. Edwards Deming, with whom his name is often linked, he made an impact in Japan before his ideas were accepted in the West. Though, like Deming, he was a statistician, his concept of quality management is often said to place less reliance on statistics than Deming’s, and he is particularly associated with the overall approach that maintains that quality control should be built into every part of the production process and that every employee should be motivated and empowered to participate in it. |
