Purpose and benefitsSteve Case, born in 1958, is CEO and cofounder of America Online (AOL). Case took the nontech route to Internet-associated fame. A political science graduate, he worked in marketing and sales positions at PepsiCo and Proctor & Gamble after college. His entrepreneurial spirit soon got the better of him, however. He started a video company and then, being an early Internet convert, Quantum Computers, which offered online services to users of Commodore computers. Commodore soon disappeared but Quantum, renamed America Online (AOL) in 1989, continued to grow. |
