Purpose and benefits

David Sarnoff (1891–1970) was a media pioneer. He was responsible for the introduction of radio and television in the United States as forms of mass media providing popular entertainment. Born in Russia, Sarnoff emigrated to the United States as a boy in 1900; by 1930 he was president of the Radio Corporation of America (RCA). He went on to develop FM radio on a commercial basis and bring colour television to the American people.
