In the United Kingdom there were more than 100,000 applications to employment tribunals in 2001, the number of cases having risen by 135% over the past 10 years. Unfair dismissal accounted for nearly 50% of these claims; breach of contract or pay-related claims accounted for around 35%, and discrimination on the grounds of sex, race or disability accounted for about 8%. |
