She was formerly a journalist with The Economist, The Times, the Independent and the Sunday Times and has been economics editor of Channel 4 News, the Daily Telegraph and the Sunday Telegraph. She was head of the Downing Street Policy Unit from 1990 to 1995. She is married to the Rt Hon. Douglas Hogg, QC, MP, and has a son and a daughter.
