He was formerly chairman and chief executive of International Distillers and Vintners, chairman and chief executive of Grand Metropolitan, joint chairman of Diageo and a director of United Business Media. A past member of the CBI President’s Committee and of the BACC Advisory Board, he is a director of the Marketing Council and a vice-chairman of the Chartered Institute of Marketing. He is married and has four sons and one daughter.
