I have been writing and commentating on technology based training, including e-learning, since 1990. My work has been published across three continents – the USA, Europe and Australia as well as in UK-based publications, making me unique as a commentator on the worldwide e-learning scene.
Before establishing a press and public relations consultancy in June 1990, I had worked for the Road Transport Industry Training Board (RTITB) since September 1976. Originally employed as a management development trainer, I wrote open learning materials for the road haulage industry. Then, in 1983, I became the Editor of the Board's newspaper, Transport Training (tabloid, 26,000 circulation).
Since forming Bob Little Press & PR, I have edited a number of publications, including Training Technology & Human Resources (1990 - 93; circ 6,000); The TACT Newsletter (1992-99; circ 1,000); The TACT Journal (1999; circ 1,000); Management Skills & Development (1998 - 2000; circ 20,000); Open Learning Today (1999 – 2003; circ 1,500), and QL (2003 – 2005; circ 1,500) magazines.
I was elected chairman of the editorial board of Training Technology & Human Resources magazine in October 2001 and have been contributing editor of E-Learning Age magazine since its inception in October 2001. I also write on industrial training/multimedia topics for a number of publications and, in my spare time, edit an ezine or two.
I am a member of the National Union of Journalists (since 1984) and the Institute of Public Relations (since 1997). I served as a Fellow of the Institute of IT Training from 2002 to 2005. In January 2001, my organisation, Bob Little Press & PR, was elected to membership of the PRI, a group of independent, specialist public relations firms which are recognised as leaders in their fields.
I hold a bachelor of social sciences (economics) degree from the University of Wales.
When not writing about e-learning, I play cricket and write about opera (see especially Edgar Evans) - among other things.
