Using Proven Problem-solving Techniques by
            Bloomsbury

Purpose and benefits

Solving problems is something humans have been doing for millennia. Our technological developments and our developments as a society are based upon this innate human skill which we all possess to some degree or another. However, our problem solving skills tend to become less imaginative over time and, as our experience builds, we default to a solution that has worked for us in the past. Our favoured tried and tested approaches are all very well, but sometimes, the context in which they are applied has changed without us being aware of it, or new developments mean that new options are available to consider. If we continually factor out these types of changes, we will not make progress; instead we will tread the same ground over and over again.

You should remind yourself that there is always more than one way to tackle a problem, and you should be open to the unexpected. This actionlist describes some of the problem-solving techniques which are designed to stimulate more creative solutions.
