The Art of War by
            Sun Tzu, Bloomsbury

Purpose and benefits

When the post-war achievements of Japanese industry began to make a significant impression in the West, and Western business people began to inquire into the thinking that underlay the success of their Eastern counterparts, Sun Tzu’s "The Art of War" was a book that was often mentioned. This may seem surprising as it was probably written some 2,400 years ago. But military language and imagery have played an important role in the development of management thinking, and if you wish to gain an insight into strategy, leadership, and survival in a hostile, competitive environment, who better to turn to than a general whose name is a byword for sagacity?
