Purpose and benefits

Henri Fayol was one of Europe’s leading thinkers on the principles of management. He was important for two reasons: first, because he placed management centre stage; second, because he pondered the question of how best a company could be organised. He was also one of the earliest people to write and lecture on management issues, and indeed is sometimes referred to as the first management thinker.
