
Purpose and benefitsThe US serial entrepreneur Theodore Newton Vail (1845–1921) enjoyed several careers. First Vail worked for the US government reforming the postal delivery system. The next chapter of his working life was spent setting up and expanding the American Bell Telegraph Company. Finally, after retiring to a tranquil life on his farm in Vermont, the 62-year-old Vail was persuaded to come out of retirement to save the American Telephone & Telegraph company. |
